These scones are the perfect marriage of flavor and texture! The maple glaze highlights the pumpkin flavor so beautifully, and the result is a fluffy scone that is perfect for fall (or any time of year!).
Maple Glazed Pumpkin Scones
Servings: 18
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup cold salted butter
- 3/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
For the glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375℉.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Grate in the butter and mix with your hands until well distributed.
- In a separate bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, milk, and spices.
- Add the pumpkin mixture to the flour mixture and fold to combine. Knead only until the flour has been incorporated!
- Transfer the dough to your lined baking sheet and press into 1 inch tall rectangle (should be about 8” x 6”).
- Cut into 9 squares and cut each square in half diagonally.
- Spread the scones out on your baking sheet (about 1 inch apart) and bake for 10 minutes.
- Allow to cool for 15 minutes on the tray before transferring to a rack to cool completely.
- While the scones cool, whisk together your glaze ingredients until smooth. Add in a little more water as needed to thin it out to a spreadable consistency.
- Dip your cooled scones into the glaze and allow to set for 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
